Hello everyone,
A couple of days ago on my regular walk through Lincoln Park (West Seattle), I had a conversation with a nice gentleman who told me that there have been several recent reports of a Barred Owl back in Lincoln Park. Since we lost our wonderful resident Barred Owl a few months ago to a car, I was excited to hear that we may have one or more back again.
Can anyone on Tweeters confirm such a sighting in recent weeks/months?
And by the way, our Pileated Woodpecker has allowed itself to be observed about once out of every four of my Lincoln Park walks this winter. What a gorgeous bird.

Thanks,
Trileigh Tucker

I checked up on two female Barred Owls that are on telemetry here on Bainbridge, and both are on eggs.

One bird is the resident female at Islandwood, a bird that was banded as an Island bird nestling in 2001. This is her third year at nesting.

The other female is one that hangs around in my neighborhood. She chose to nest in a tree that she nested in last four years ago. This bird is at least seven years old.
