Hi Guy,

The Seattle Audubon store at 35th NE and NE 82nd in Seattle would be my
first choice, but for some top end scopes, Leica, etc. I would visit
Anacortes Telescope along Hwy 20 on the way to Anacortes and the north end
of Whidbey Island. They have a great selection and their location allows
you to focus on objects miles away or on birds that frequent their feeders
50 feet away. Also, before or after, you could bird at the nearby Samish
Flats area, still harboring lots of hawks, owls and waterfowl.
I favor the Leica 77mm. Telavid, but other manufacturers have improved
and lightened their products, too. If I were buying today I would take a
close look at Brunton. They're American-made and of the highest quality.
Above all, take your time. You'll want to form a lifelong relationship with
your scope. Mine ranks just behind family.

Good luck, Alan Roedell,

Tweets,
Does anyone out there know of a local (Puget Sound
area) store that carries a good variety of spotting
scopes? Swarovski, Pentax, Nikon, Leica, all the big
guns. I'm still thinking about a new scope, and have
gotten to the stage where I've read the reviews and I
need to look thru some glass to make a choice.

Or, Hey! Let's hold the First Anual Tweeters
Scope-a-thon (FATS?) at Gene Coulon Park! Everyone on
tweeters bring their scopes down to the park some nice
afternoon, and we all can walk down the line of scopes
and compare and contrast them all! While ID'ing all
the gulls out there.
I'd attend ;) But I would never try to organize it.
The ultimate exercise in attempting to 'herd cats'.
You lot are a bit unpredictable ;)
Heh Heh!
Guy
