Mar 8, 2006. The following interesting birds have been reported in Spokane
County during the past week:
There were 3 new county year birds being: SNOW GOOSE, SAY'S PHOEBE, and
TREE SWALLOW bringing the group year list to 117.
Mar 7, a SNOW GOOSE was on Peone Rd / Taylor Rd in NE Spokane Co. One later
attempt failed.
Mar 6, a SAY'S PHOEBE returned to a NE Spokane Co nest site.
Mar 2, at least 2 TREE SWALLOWS were at Eloika Lake with Violet-Green
Swallows. 25 TREE SWALLOWS were near Down's Lake Mar 5.
A second WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was at Medical Lake Mar 3. They are few
sightings for the county. Turnbull NWR only has 5 records. One theory is
they fly over the county.
NORTHERN PINTAIL numbers have increased. Evidently migrating COMMON &
BARROW'S GOLDENEYE have appeared in unusual locations.
Good Birding
CraigCorder I did not see all these birds.
