Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday March 9. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at
503-233-3976.

A CRESTED CARACARA was reported March 7 along Hwy 20 about ten miles west of
Corvallis near Blodgett. So far it has not been relocated. The FALCATED DUCK
continues to be seen, but it moves between the Coburg RV park and along Hwy
99W north of Eugene. The TUFTED DUCK is still on Meares Lake near Tillamook.
On March 4 a BLUE JAY was east of Corvallis along Peoria Road about a mile
south of Hwy 34.

The SNOWY OWLS apparently have left the South Jetty of the Columbia River,
but the Eugene Airport bird is still being seen.

On March 5 a MUTE SWAN was at Steigerwald NWR near Washougal. A SAGE
SPARROW was seen March 5 at the Portland Airport. Also on March 5 two SAY?S
PHOEBES were at the Sandy Rive Delta. The day before one was in North
Portland near Kelley Point Park. On March 6 a SHORT-EARED OWL was flying
over the ball fields at Delta Park in North Portland. A FERRUGINOUS HAWK is
now being seen at the Eugene Airport.

On March 8 a flock of BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS was in Bend. On March 6 two GREAT
GRAY OWLS were at the Quail Run Golf Course in LaPine. Single BLUE PHASE
SNOW GEESE were reported during the week among the SNOW/ROSS?S GOOSE flocks
at Summer Lake and in the Harney Basin. On March 7 over 300 MOUNTAIN
BLUEBIRDS and 103 TREE SWALLOWS were at Summer Lake.

That?s it for this week.
