Hello Tweeters,
Spring is in the air and so are mating birds.
This morning I watched as a pair of Cooper's Hawks added sticks to a nest
in Wallace Swamp Creek Park
(one mile north of Bothell Way on 73rd Ave. in Kenmore)
I believe this is the same pair I watched raise their family last summer.

They returned to the park February 13th. Since then I see them regularly
at the foot of the hill where the trail connects to 68th Ave NE. This
Morning I heard them calling from quite some distance away. When I got to
the place where they hang out I started looking for them and they very
cooperatively called out" Look Linda , we're over here!" After watching
them for a few minutes I walked on ( it was too cold to just stand still)
Further along the trail I saw one of them fly over with a twig in it's
beak. I watched as it flew to a nest that was started last June but as
far as I could see was never used. I hope they do use this nest. It is in
the crotch of a large cottonwood near the picnic tables and will be
visible unlike the one they used last year in a fir tree.
