I know someone out there is tracking TV sightings, but can't remember who. After not seeing the tufted duck at Vance Creek Park between 10-11 a.m. (I also an into Tim there on the return trip), I headed out to Ocean Shores. Between mile marker 4 and 5 (closer to 4) on Route 12 just outside Aberdeen, a TV flew up just off the left side of the road. It caught me by surprise. It was very close and unmistakable.

Damon Point was very busy yesterday with the nice weather. Lots of walkers, shell collectors and fishermen. At Damon Point, I saw 5-6 snowy owls. They were very skittish and people were flushing them mercilessly trying to get close. I was irritated with this continuing bird disturbance. I saw one lady with a point and shoot camera, in particular, flush 4 owls, flushing 2-3 of these owls twice!! At another owl that we both saw, I stayed put as she moved past the owl. She must have read my thoughts, as she didn't flush this owl and disappeared. However, minutes later 2 couples flushed this owl. One would think that when you flushed an owl, you'd figure out that you couldn't get any closer. 60-75 feet seemed to be the owl limits yesterday. I suspect they're trying to get prepared for the flight north. Please keep this in mind if you go view them.

I also saw a red-tailed hawk, dunlin, 1 black-bellied plover, western sandpipers, N. harrier, and a gorgeous Cooper's hawk (feeding on something on the ocean side driftwood), along with some ducks and gulls and crows at Damon Point.

On the way home, I stopped by the Hoquiam sewage ponds. More cormorants than ducks.

Brady Road had lots of dark-eyed juncos, a few green-winged teals and a kestrel.
