Dear Tweeters,

Bob Kuntz and I saw a lone Snowy Owl just east
of-the-dike trail, at the Fir Island Game Range on
Saturday, March 11. We were both guessing that it
would be our last Snowy Owl of this winter. I went
back and checked my records, though--last time we had
a big year for these birds here, I was seeing them
into late March, so who knows.

I took a fabulous ride in a 1947 Piper Super Cub on
Sunday, and flew over that same area. With my video
camera focused as best I could, I tried and tried to
relocate the owl, but could not.
