Ah, 'twas a robin who made my day. Mostly, pediatricians treat ear
infections and school problems. Thank goodness! our patients are
mostly healthy. So. I encountered a cat with a robin in its mouth.
Our eyes (the cat's and mine) met and it saw my resolve, dropped the
robin and ran away. The robin, who seemed basically unimpaired,
picked itself up and flew off in nothing flat. And I floated through
the day, having saved a life.
Moving to 7500' where it's been better part of a week below 25 deg.,
windy and white, it was so lovely to see easily two dozen robins
flying in a loose flock from Ponderosa to Doug fir through the
falling snow.
