Tuesday March 14, 2006:
Four WILSON'S SNIPE, one SHORT-EARED OWL, two COOPER'S HAWK and a VIRGINIA
RAIL, vocalizing, were seen in a field near the intersection of Wren and
Hirst Road in Parksville.
Two WESTERN MEADOWLARKS were seen in a yard in the 3200 block of Rock City
Road in Nanaimo.

Monday March 13:
Fifty EVENING GROSBEAKS were seen above Sherman Road in Duncan.

Sunday March 12:
Two VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS, a SHORT-EARED OWL and a flock of AMERICAN PIPITS
were seen at the Nanaimo River Estuary in south Nanaimo.
The Sunday bird walk went to Neck Point Park in Nanaimo. Twenty-two birders
found the following forty-four species:

Saturday March 11:
HUTTON'S VIREOS and many HERMIT THRUSH were seen at the Fairwinds Golf
Course in Nanoose Bay.

Friday March 10:
One male ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD was seen at the point at Pipers Lagoon in
Nanaimo.

Thursday March 09:
Five BAND-TAILED PIGEONS and a WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW were seen at feeders in
the 1700 block of El Verano Drive on Gabriola Island.
A male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was seen coming to feeders in the 2400 block of
Cross Road in Nanoose Bay.
A RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER has been visiting suet feeders in the 2044 block of
Cross Road in Nanoose Bay.
An AMERICAN ROBIN with white on it's head was spotted in the 200 block of
Westwood Road in Nanaimo.
An ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD is coming to feeders in the 500 block of Alder Street
in Qualicum Beach.

Wednesday March 08:
A TOWNSEND'S WARBLER is visiting suet feeders along Crestwood Place in the
Departure Bay area of Nanaimo.

Tuesday March 07:
A flock of thirty-six EVENING GROSBEAKS are visiting feeders in the 4300
block of Alderwood Drive in Port Alberni.
AN ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD and a NORTHERN FLICKER are visiting feeders in the
1300 block of Lanyon Drive in Parksville.
A WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW was heard singing in the 5400 block of Bayshore
Drive (north of Hammond Bay Road) in north Nanaimo.
A RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER was spotted in the 3100 block of Jamison Road in
Nanaimo.
