American Redstarts were always one of those cherished birds you got to
hopefully see in migration in your backyard when I lived in NY state. It
was also one of the birds I remember trying to learn the song of while
taking a field Ornithology class in college in the Adirondacks. I also
remember seeing a nest of one during that summer near my cabin in a sapling
sugar maple. Needless to say, one of the many warblers that bring back fond
memories of growing up in the Northeast. Truly one of the "butterflies of
the bird world".
