Mar 15, 2006. The following interesting birds have been reported in Spokane
County during the past week:

There were 3 new county year birds being TRI-COLORED BLACKBIRD, EURASIAN
WIGEON, & LONG-BILLED MARSH WREN bringing the group year list to 120.

By far the best bird was the TRI-COLORED BLACKBIRD found by Theresa Mathis
Mar 14 in her yard which is SW of Medical Lake. It was seen, heard &
photographed Mar 15 by numerous birders. This is a first ever for Spokane
Co.

A EURASIAN WIGEON was on the south end of Philleo Lake Mar 15. A GOLDEN
EAGLE was also there.

A LONG-BILLED MARSH WREN was singing at Turnbull NWR Mar 14 for the first
2006 report.

The long-term resident TRUMPETER SWAN was back at Turnbull NWR HQ Mar 14.
This time he has a young TRUMPETER with him. Also seen Mar 15.

The SNOW GOOSE found Mar 7 at Peone Prairie was seen at least through Mar
11.

8 PINE GROSBEAKS were on Mt Spokane Mar 3.

A "flock" of 9 SHORT-EARED OWLS was in the SW part of the county Mar 12.

At least 10 GREATER SCAUP were on West Medical Lake Mar 11.
