Today (20 March) Fred Boesche and I went out and birded between Brady Loop
Road and Tokeland in the fine weather.

Foster Road in the Brady Loop complex was productive, with a couple thousand
migrant waterfowl concentrated on the north end of the road. Only managed to
pick out Eurasian Wigeons, 7 males and 6 females. There may well be
something more interesting in that flock. About 1/2 mile south on Foster
Road, we located an adult White-tailed Kite sitting in a large alder. Also
along Brady Loop Rd were 2 Orange-crowned Warblers.

We walked from Warrenton Cannery Road to just north of Midway Beach Road and
back. Our total for Snowy Plovers was 16. Many are now paired up and are
displaying and calling much more than in the winter. North Cove produced an
amazing zero gulls on the beach. Just south of there on the hillside was a
very dark adult, almost certainly Peale's, Peregrine Falcon and an
intermediate morph Rough-legged Hawk. At Graveyard Spit were 16 Long-billed
Curlews. Tokeland Marina had 600 Marbled Godwits, 14 Willets, 3 Long-billed
Dowitchers and the Clark's Grebe. Finally, near the Tradewinds Motel my
first Rufous Hummingbird of the season was J-diving.
