Hi Folks:
For those going east to the Othello Sandhill Crane Festival, the hwy 26 road
detour is still in effect. The road is closed just past Vantage. See
website below.
Earlier in the month we traveled to Othello from Seattle, and took the
detour to the north that starts near George at exit 149 on I-90, Silica Rd.
It was pretty long (but we saw some birds). Looking at the map on the
website, it seems like a better route for cars would be to turn south on hwy
243 toward Beverly. Then take a left turn onto Beverly Burke Rd to reach
hwy 26 again.
Here is the website about the detour.
Right now it has hwy 26 closed about 2 miles east of Vantage. The
link to WA Dept of Transportation's info about it is:

See you at the festival. I'm hoping for a big birding list including
Burrowing Owl, American Avocet and Blk-necked Stilt.
Yours, Carol Schulz
