I was just browsing the American Ornith.Union (AOU) web site that I had bookmarked. And I was especially interested in the tentative South American list - specifically the Woodpeckers.

There is one proposal (Webb and Moore, 2005) that reclassifies the Picinae subfamily into just three tribes; and put Dryocopus with Flickers, while Campephilus would be grouped with the SE Asian Chrysocolaptes and two other unamed old world genera. Since this is based on genetic analysis, it should prove interesting down the road.
(Or did I misread it all?)
