A Snowy Owl has been seen a number of times between Oaksdale and Steptoe Butte on Hume Rd 3.7 miles south of Oaksdale. It was seen there Tuesday of this week right next to the road. It has been in that vicinity for several weeks. My wife and I went looking for it yesterday with no luck. The rolling hills undoubtedly are the reason. The bird visits this bottom land near the road quite often, but not when we were there. We flushed a Great Horned Owl and a Long-eared out in the Steptoe Butte Park. They were perched very close to one another on the left side a hundred yards before the restroom. There was also a porcupine roosting in a deciduous tree near them. A second porky was at the upper end of the same side.
