We made a quick hike around Whistle Lake in the Anacortes Community Forest
Lands this morning. Here are some of the highlights:
*1st Brown Creeper songs of the year!
*1st Townsend's Chipmunk " " " "!
* We saw 2 Barred Owls. The 1st flew across the trail (#21) with 2 angry
robins in pursuit. The 2nd was just a few yards up Trail 22 from the
trailhead.. This was at 10:30 am.
* We found a pair of Wood Ducks in Whistle Lake and a small flock of
Ring-necked Ducks in Toot Swamp.
* A Hutton's Vireo sang 45 times in one minute followed by 38 the next.

We dropped down to the Cap Sante Marina after the tree pollen got to bad
for me:
* A couple of Common Loons in alternate ( breeding) plumage.
* Horned Grebe also in alternate.
* Pied-billed Grebe.
* 4-5 Violet-green Swallows.
* The Rock Pigeons were carrying nesting materials to the underside of a
dock.
