Though I'm not doing any serious birding during our house hunting trip to Washington state, I have been doing some "out the window while hubby is driving" birding. I've seen grebe, killdeer, tons of raptors, vultures (wheee....!), jays, and more. But the highlight of my trip thus far happened today. As we drove along North Bay of Case Inlet, I looked out the window just in time to see a Bald Eagle swoop down out of the sky and land on a spit of land exposed by the low tide. What a thrill!! I think I'm going to be happy here. :)

What is the status of Bald Eagles in Washington state? Are they stable? Declining?
