I'm certain someone out there can answer this one for me. I have decided
to use 4 letter code to keep track of the birds I see. Cedar Wax- Wings
have come into my neighborhood the past couple of weeks to eat the
berries from my neighbors Holly tree.
I found this definition on the web for determining the code

? THREE-WORD NAMES
Use the first letter of the first and second word and the first two
letters of the third word.
Ex.: Great Gray Owl = GGOW,
Broad-tailed Hummingbird = BTHU :
but I'm a little confused because some times I see Cedar Waxwing and
some times Wax-Wing.
is CEWA the correct code for these high pitched beauties? or is CWWI?

Yesterday, while walking through the woods I flushed a female MALLARD.
since she was on the ground well away from any water I guesses she was on
a nest. Sure enough I found it. She has 14 eggs. What a large family.
