Regarding the Burrowing Owls near Birders Corner near the intersection
of Dodson/Frenchman Hill Road, Natalie and I did see the owls at this
spot last year, but we missed them on a whirlwind trip to Othello and
back on this past weekend. Our experience with seeing owls at this
location is that they are simply hit and miss. I believe we missed
seeing the owls six times before we were successful, and we have always
had the best luck seeing the owls near the end of the afternoon. It
sounds like you are looking in the right spot - just a half mile or so
north of the intersection, on the east side of Dodson Road, just north
of where the willows end. It may just take a little patience to catch
the owls on their schedule.

Natalie and I will be back in the Othello area this weekend, and I will
be sure to post to Tweeters if we find the Burrowing Owls at this
particular nest or at the other nesting burrows a little further west
along Frenchman Hill Road.

Happy birding!
