Tuesday March 28, 2006:
A YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was seen having a bath in a water feature off
Extension Road in south Nanaimo.
Twenty-four EVENING GROSBEAKS were seen visiting feeders in South
Wellington.

Monday March 27:
"RARE BIRD ALERT"
A PAINTED BUNTING has been seen at 906 Damelart Way in Brentwood Bay for the
last seven Days.
Two NORTHERN SHOVELERS, two YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS and ten VIOLET-GREEN
SWALLOWS were seen at Brookwood Marsh east of Rutherford Road, in north
Nanaimo.
RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS were seen today in 2600 block of Pylates Drive in
Ladysmith, in the 4700 block of Gertrude Street in Port Alberni and in the
3000 block of Raymur Place in Qualicum Beach.
BAND-TAILED PIGEONS and AMERICAN GOLDFINCH were seen at the end of Kaye Road
in Parksville.
Two BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS, 25 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS and two DUNLIN were seen
at Parksville Bay.
A YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was spotted hawking insects in the 2500 block of
Cameo Drive on Gabrolia Island.

Sunday March 26:
RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS are visiting feeders in the 4100 block of Gulfview,
along Aulds Road and in the 400 block of Walton Heath Place in Nanaimo.
RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS have returned to feeders in the 1300 block of Saturna
Drive at Craig Bay.
The Sunday Bird Walk went to Buttertubs Marsh, twenty-seven birders found
the following thirty-eight species:

Saturday March 25:
"RARE BIRD ALERT"
A CLARK'S NUTCRACKER was seen near the trailer park just before the turn off
to the Hospital in Port Alberni.
A RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER was seen near Cooper's Place in Parksville.
RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS are coming to feeders in the 100 block of Meridian Way
in Parksville
RED CROSSBILLS, one SAW-WHET OWL and two BARRED OWLS were seen and heard at
Colliery Dam Park in Nanaimo.
Five RED CROSSBILLS, and one RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER were seen along Kaye
Road in Parksville.

Friday March 24:
An AMERICAN KESTRAL was seen near the Airport in south Nanaimo.
Fifteen TRUMPETER SWANS were seen over French Creek.

Thursday March 23:
An AMERICAN KESTRAL was seen along highway 19 near the Arbutus Meadows
Stables.
Six EVENING GROSBEAKS were seen in the 2300 block of Gomerich Road in South
Wellington.

Wednesday March 22:
BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS were seen on the beach at Departure Bay in Nanaimo.
An albino AMERICAN ROBIN was spotted along East Wellington Road in Nanaimo.

Tuesday March 21:
24 to 36 VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS were seen flying over the marshes at Paldi
Road in Duncan.
A second year GLAUCOUS GULL, three EURASIAN WIGEONS and one MERLIN were
seen at French Creek.
Three PILEATED WOODPECKERS, one HUTTONS VIREO, five AMERICAN COOTS, one
PIED-BILLED GREBE, several AMERICAN GOLDFINCH and three TURKEY VULTURES were
seen at Craig Bay in Parksville.

Monday March 20:
A RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was seen coming to feeders in the 6500 block of Lost
Lake Road in Nanaimo.

Saturday March 18:
An AMERICAN GOLDFINCH were spotted at feeders in the Chartwell area of
Qualicum Beach.
