We have the most beautiful golden yellow house finch I have ever seen.
I saw it for the second time today. The upper breast is yellow over
the brown stripes and there are bright head stripes. When it turns
around, you can see bright yellow on its back underneath the part
covered by the wings. If I hadn't seen it again today I would not have
been sure I believed what I saw for the first time last week. Today
it was at a black-oil sunflower seed feeder on Whatcom Falls Park in
Bellingham. The first time I saw it it was sitting in a cedar tree
next to our feeding area.

We have two pairs of Rufous and still have one pair of bushtits. I
saw a speckled goldfinch the other day too. It must be in the middle
of changing over to its breeding color of gold, but it looked pretty
strange -- mixed olive with gold spots here and there.
