Hi tweets,

If you have an urge to combine tulip- watching with birding this weekend,
give in to it. Wendy and I headed out to the dead-end dike at the
headquarters last Saturday and were rewarded by seeing the usual suspects;
four Snowy Owls. On the way into the dike we saw numerous Golden-crowned
Sparrows as well as several Song Sparrows, Spotted Towhees and a gorgeous
Fox Sparrow. We heard many Marsh Wrens and saw a few. Kinglets were
working the bushes and we heard a Yellow-rumped and another warbler I
couldn't quite place. Harriers and Red-tails were doing their thing and on
the way out we saw a Merlin on a wire along Wylie Rd. Thousands of Snow
Geese were along Mann Road and though we saw a few swans in flight, we
didn't see the numbers we've seen earlier in the year. Spring is definitely
here. Oh, and if I were you, I'd skip the tulips; Too many people.

Good birding, Alan Roedell (mailto; roedell at speakeasy.net)
