Monday, April 3rd-Bud Anderson-Hawk Bills - Bud Anderson and the Falcon
Research Group have been doing extensive studies on the long-billed hawk
syndrome. First discovered in a red-tailed hawk in 1997 on the Samish Flats
of Washington, they continue to investigate and document the number,
location, and bill condition of affected raptors. To date , 65 raptors,
ranging from southern British Colombia to San Jose, California, have been
discovered with this serious beak abnormality. The goal of the studies is to
determine the cause for this lethal condition in wild hawks.

Note: Meetings are held the first Monday of each month (except July,
August, and September) at the Center for Urban Horticulture on the
University of Washington campus, 3501 N.E. 41st Street, Seattle, and are
open to all.

The social begins at 7:00 pm, and the program starts at 7:30 pm.
