Hi,
I have had over the past several years, a male house sparrow, who has claimed a nest box. This box has become a focal point for my Pileated pair. It has a nice tone to it I suppose; and they hammer relentlessly on it; first trying one side, scooting around and trying the bottom, top, front (which they usually don't do more than a couple of seconds, I suppose the hole ruins the sound).

The House Sparrow used to find a mate to nest with him; and of course I would clean out the nest, or shake the eggs, to keep them happy to a certain point. But for the past 2-3 years he has had no female show interest in him or his box. I do feel rather sorry for him; but I cannot blame any female for not wanting this box.

Just a little humor from the yard I thought I would share!
