Hello Tweets,

This morning and early afternoon we joined an Audubon walk around the Titlow Park area in Pierce Co.(west Tacoma),where a few noteworthy sightings were encountered. Relatively good numbers Yellow-rumped Warblers(both subspecies)were most prevalent throughout the main park area followed by small numbers of other migrants. A few of he main species that were observed/and or heard include the following:

8 Am.Wigeon
15 Bufflehead
1 pair of Hooded Mergansers
2 Red-tailed hawks
2 immature Bald Eagles
1 female Anna's Hummingbird
1-2 HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHER
1 Northern Rough-winged Swallow
1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet
8+ Orange-crowned Warblers
3+ Black-throated Gray Warblers
1 COMMON YELLOWTHROAT(noteworthy for the location)
1 male Western Tanager
1 Savannah Sparrow

After birding the park area several of us made a walk to the Titlow Beach waterfront and located several waterbird species. Due to the time of day we were unable to locate any Purple Martins. A few of the main highlights noted while scoping the open water included the following:

13 Pacific Loons
1 Common Loon
3 Red-necked Grebes
22 Western Grebes
8 Pelagic Cormorants
1 Common Goldeneye
1 Ring-billed Gull
20 Pigeon Guillemots
1 Marbled Murrelet
5 Rhinoceros Auklets

In addition a friend of ours mentioned that she had a male YELLOW WARBLER in her north Tacoma yard this morning, which was nice hearing about.

Good birding,
