Come to Puget Sound Bird Fest in Edmonds and celebrate birds and nature
on International Migratory Bird Day! The festival gets underway Friday
evening, May 12, with an opening reception and keynote address by
Russell Link of the Washington Dept. of Fish and Wildlife. Russell's
topic is "Gardening on the Wing: Bats, Bees, Birds and Butterflies".
The reception will be hosted by Pilchuck Audubon Society, and the
location is Edmonds Conference Center. On Saturday, May 13, there will
be activities all day long, including guided walks and field trips,
workshops, exhibits, children's activities, and ongoing bird-viewing
stations. There will be birding cruises along the Puget Sound
shoreline, and bus tours to local backyard wildlife sanctuaries and
native plant gardens. Registration and signups for most activities will
be at Artworks, 201 - 2nd Ave S, beginning at 8:00 am. Pre-registration
is required for the "Birding by Ear" field workshop that will take place
7:00-8:30 am. Contact Sally Lider (telephone or e-mail below) if
interested in this activity. The festival will conclude with a closing
reception and keynote address at the Wade James Theater Saturday
evening. Nationally-recognized and award-winning nature photographer
John Hendrickson will present "A Celebration of Raptors". More
