Subject: [Tweeters] Song Sparrow Fledgling

Hi Tweeters,

Saw one Song Sparrow fledging and heard another this
afternoon near the Conibear Shellhouse at the UW. It
is no wonder mortality is so high in fledglings,
trying to land without a tail is a trick. The one I
saw was excited for its feeding and flew, whoomp (with
a little thud), right down onto the bank of Union Bay.
It got fed and trailed behind parent with a little
better landings thereafter.
