Tweeters,

After being gone for five weeks, I was anxious to return to the house
and see how the migration has been in Battle Ground. On Tuesday and
Wednesday, I added 12 species to the annual yard list including
GREAT-HORNED OWL, VAUX'S SWIFT, CLIFF, BARN, and VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWs,
BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK (on feeder), PURPLE FINCH (on feeder), GREATER
YELLOWLEGS, LEAST SANDPIPER, and SAVANNAH, WHITE-CROWNED, AND GOLDEN
CROWNED SPARROWs.

This morning, the Greater Yellowlegs in the pond 100 yards from the back
deck was joined by a single calling SOLITARY SANDPIPER. I was surprised
to see that and don't know whether it's unusual in western Washington in
Spring. Also in the area yesterday were Lincoln's Sparrow, Yellow
Warbler (seemed early) and Wilson's Warbler.

Get Out There and Go Birding!
