Subject: [Tweeters] Douglas Co. Snowy Owls

Today is May 6th. On May 4th a friend in Mansfield called me and said she
had seen one Snowy Owl on the way to Waterville.

Today my friend and I tried that spot and got TWO Snowy Owls, about 1/2
mile apart. Going towards Waterville, from Mansfield they were at the end
of Sprauer Rd. where it makes a sharp left-hand turn. There are two places
along there with guard rails. First was seen on the left side of the road
on a rock pile near the old road bed. The second was taking shelter from
the wind by a large reddish rock on the right hand side, just as the road
starts to straighten out again. We only saw one mile-marker sign, 7. They
were west of Road M.5. Going towards Waterville if you come to the light
yellow house on the left with lots of trees; you have gone too far.

When the Denney's reported Snowies late April, we went out and found two,
and thought that was late. This is remarkable! Meredith Spencer (and
Richard Hendrick).
