An active and interesting morning at Juanita Bay Park. Hordes of swallows, mostly Violet-green and Tree, with a few Barn. Lots of Wilson's Warblers (up to 3 males at once in the same tree), but only one Yellow-rumped/Audubon's. A probable Hammond's Flycatcher (silent, no tail flicking but very gray, w/ fore-and-aft eyering). Quite a few sparrows: White-crowned, Golden-crowned, Song and Lincoln's. Very few waterfowl: quite a few Double-crested Cormorants, some Mallards, and a few Common Mergansers, Buffleheads, Gadwalls and a Pied-billed Grebe. Best of all.. a calling Virginia Rail, which then dashed out into the open for a brief but excellent view!
