Hello Birders and Tweeters,
As we birded almost all day yesterday on the peninsula where we also watched the many Sail boats on Point No Point pretty close to shore We had a nice day with the great migration watching that many Western Tanager flying over our head on Port Gamble mostly all where bright males.
But the best for me came in the evening at 7.45 PM in our back yard where four Wilson Warbler, all males using my new creation of the habitat I created for birds. For some reason No birds ever used my beautiful small Pond, what been there for many years. So I figured I adding an extension to the pond. What consist of a top from a Birdbath, which I purchased at the Pond Place in Hoquiam.I planted a lot of pond plants around also I planted some small rock plants like Giant White Showers ,Saxifraga "Johnson Pink" Blue Eyed Grass, Blue Star Creeper and Rock Cress and few others.I put some small rocks around all this plants. This all happen few days ago.Whe both witnessed the 4 Wilson Warblers went down from our high regular dripping Birdbath and used the low birdbath plus picked in between the rocks in to the soul. This was some show what went on for about almost 15 minutes. My Yard Birds are this important than some of the Rare birds we been chasing.I never figure that this little bit change from the lush Pond where I spend quite bit money with surrounding the pond with some pricey Rocks and a Waterlilly what blooms not to often. The last was the one Hermit Thrush still left here seeing this morning checking all this new creation out.We had Wilson Warbler single birds few days ago in our birdbath in the front yard, what also have a dripping system what attracts all birds. But I am never expected that this so less expensive idea was such success.
An other question to you all is: I have four Yew Trees in my yard ,there quite tall.In the last two years don't produce any berries. There all mature healthy trees and start to get to tall in the places I been planted them,so I pruned them back few years back.If any of you know wy there not producing any berries,I really would appreciate any input what I can do to improve the condition of this trees.I check the Valley Nursery in Poulsbo out,and found that the small Yew Trees are $60.00 and $120.00 where. But even so to own this trees what producing Berries what all birds prefer, even the Chickadee and Bewick 's Wren will use this trees for there food.
