Tweets,
I went on Ken Knittle's WOS Field trip this weekend to
Eastern WA. GREAT FIElD TRIP! But I will leave it to
Ken for THAT report ;)
But he helped me tease out the Empid Flycatchers
(FINALLY), aided by Hammond's and Dusky Flycatchers at
the same twig at different times in the Scope!! And a
Gray Flycatcher at Lyon's Ferry!!!
And a massive tour of Eastern Washington counties I
have not birded in very often!
Thank you Very Much, Ken !!

Highlights On the way there, Friday May 5:
Lake Lenore --> 3-4 Pectoral Sandpipers (south end, on
the washed up grasses), no Lesser Black-backed gull.

Soap Lake - BN Stilt(~12), A Avocet(2), Least
Sandpiper and Spotted Sandpiper (one each). Slow.

Spokane, Liberty Lake --> Great-tailed Grackle, Sora
everywhere at the County Park.

Spokane, Iller Canyon - Slow, but Drumming R. Grouse,
Yellow Warbler

Hwy 2 between Davenport and Creston --> SNOWY OWL!!!
On a power pole at dusk, near mile marker 246.
Are they going to stay here all summer !?!?!?!

Sunday, May 7, After the field trip.
Horn Rapids Park, near Richland -->
Eur Collared Dove
I could not confirm reports of a single N Mockingbird
or nesting Lewis Woodpeckers (wind was HOWLING!).

It was a GREAT, but gruelling long weekend. 3 days, I
drove 973 miles. Sorry Gene, I will NOT be getting
any awards to low gas-comsumption birding this year ;)

Good Birding!
Guy
