i watched a crow kill a garter snake and carry it away. he found it on the
lawn (i lived at mission beach on the tulalip res. at the time), and pecked
at it to kill it. with each "stab" the snake coiled in tighter "S" coils
and when it was a nice, tidy package, the crow grabbed it in his beak (this
way he was able to hold several sections of it and keep it compact instead
of dangling) and flew off with it. i always wondered if he was taking it
somewhere to eat it, or bringing it back to the nest.
