John and others,

I'm a big fan of wrens as well -- their vocalizations are great -- I
still remember watching for the first time a Winter Wren deliver its
incredibly long song & wondering how something so tiny could produce
such an impressive song. And the dueting of some of the neotropical
wren is amazing -- in stereo!

But I also have several other favorite families: woodpeckers,
tanagers, warblers, trogons & motmots being high on the list. And, of
course, shorebirds, especially plovers and the Upland Sandpiper,
probably my favorite shorebird species! If this favorites list idea
catches on, we should try a "Top 10 Favorite Bird Species" list as
well.

Dang, I forgot owls, jays, antbirds, hummingbirds and thrashers, all
of them very cool!
