Hello Tweets,

We have just updated our website with 26 new photos from recent sightings during the past few weeks. These photos include sightings from the Nisqually NWR,Point No Point and Brady Loop Rd. with specimens of birds, dragonflies and butterflies. 2 of the dragonfly photos include a pair of California Darner copulating on a bush, which allowed very close approach as they rested in the sun at the Nisqually NWR. It was also fun taking a few photos of the butterflies at the Nisqually NWR with a few of them allowing close approach too! We are still learning the different butterfly species in Washington,so hopefully we have identified the species correctly. In addition we photographed a teal at the Nisqually NWR that at the time was identified as a male Cinnamon Teal, but after looking at our photos this morning we felt showed characteristics of a hybrid bird with Green-winged Teal. The main body plumage appears to be of a Cinnamon Teal, but the head in one of the photos shows a distinctive green area extending behind the eye such as in a pure Green-winged Teal. Perhaps other birders may have some comments on this bird. The photos of this bird re not the best of quality due to the lightings and distance to the bird, but the should be good enough for some possible identification.
