Hey Tweets,

Just got a request for an experienced birder to lead a two-hour field
trip up Umtanum Road this Saturday morning. Will anyone be in the area
anyway? It's from 7am-9am...

Let me know ASAP and I can get you in touch with the field trip
organizer.

Adam

-------------------

The organization actually sponsoring the event is the Kittitas
Environmental Education Network (KEEN). The event is the Get Intimate
with the Shrub-Steppe and is in its 7th year. Visit the website
(http://www.kittitasee.net/pages/3/index.htm) for information about all
the activities taking place that day. The birding field trip is
scheduled to leave up the trail from the Umtanum Creek Recreation Area
trailhead in the lower Yakima River Canyon at 7 am and, generally, lasts
about 2 hours or longer if participants want. What usually happens is
that participants want to break away to attend other scheduled field
trips starting at 9 am. Most birders are familiar with the Umtanum (it
is an IBA). It offers an interesting section of riparian and
shrub-steppe birds that is unique even on the east side of the Cascades

GISS is free and if someone was willing to come over to help us out we
would provide lunch for them. They are also welcome to participate in
any of the other scheduled field trips throughout the day. If someone
wanted to come to Cle Elum on Friday night I would offer them the use of
the travel trailer in our yard, not the Ritz but functional.
