I work essentially across the street from the Kent Ponds so I go over
there at lunch now and then. Today a Great Egret (presumably one of the
pair reported yesterday) was standing at water's edge near the South
tower. Also there were two Western Kingbirds on the fence nearby. I
will have to check my records but I'm pretty sure this is my first King
County Great Egret. I haven't had many Western Kingbirds in King County
either. By the way there are numerous Tree and Barn Swallows sitting
around on the fences and bushes next to the power line trail. It's a
great opportunity to study them up close when they aren't moving.
