Tweets,
Just before 10pm Thursday I was headed back to the car, thinking I'd just
been skunked in my mini-owling excursion. In the rising full moon I spotted
a suspicious silhouette atop a dead snag, and in the binocs beheld a sight I
will never forget. It was a Great Horned, and as it turned its head this way
and that, its searching eyes "glowed" in the moonlight when the angle was
just right. Reminded me of Jamie Acker's description of owl eyes in night
vision goggles. Spectacular!
Good birding!
