Sunday May 14, 2006:
AMERICAN PIPITS, GREATER YELLOWLEGS, and twelve WESTERN SANDPIPERS were seen
at the Englishman River Estuary in Parksville.
The Sunday Bird Walk went to The Englishman River Estuary in Parksville.
Twenty-three birders found the following 46 species:

Saturday May 13:
A NORTHERN PYGMY-OWL, a PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER and a HAIRY WOODPICKER
were seen at Rivers Edge Road (near the end of Kaye Road ) behind the
Government Weigh Scales at Patrksville.

Thursday May 11:
A BARRED OWL was seen being mobbed by BUSHTITS and CHESTNUT-BACKED
CHICKADEES on lower Cowichan River near where the Tzouhalem Road crosses the
river. A BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK was also seen near the Cowichan River.
BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK, AMERICAN WIGEON, WOOD DUCK, GREAT BLUE HERON,
NORTHERN FLICKER, RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD, RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD, PIED-BILLED
GREBE, MARSH WREN, AMERICAN GOLDFINCH, AMERICAN ROBIN, SONG SPARROW,
VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOW, CALIFORNIA QUAIL and a BELTED KINGFISHER were seen at
Legacy Marsh in upper Lantzville.

Wednesday May 10:
Sixteen PURPLE MARTINS were seen on the Ladysmith Harbour in Ladysmith.

Monday May 08:
BARN, TREE, VIOLET-GREEN, NORTHERN ROUGH-WING and CLIFFF SWALLOWS, LEAST and
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, PEREGRINE FALCON and a NORTHERN HARRIER were seen
at the Nanaimo River Estuary in south Nanaimo.

Thursday May 04:
An OSPREY was seen fishing at Buttertubs Marsh in Nanaimo.
150 BRANT GEESE and three GREATER YELLOWLEGS were seen just off shore at
Parksville Bay.

Wednesday May 03:
Two flocks of over 150 BRANT GEESE flew in from the south and landed on the
beach at Parksville Bay. A GREATER YELLOWLEGS was seen in the same area at
Parksville Bay.
