Fellow Tweeters -

Today I was photographing birds at the Montlake Fill in Seattle (near the UW
campus for those that don't know; also called the Union Bay Natural Area)
and found a Pied-billed Grebe in a small river near the E-5 parking lot with
fishing net wrapped around it's mouth and head. The bird seemed okay and was
able to eat as I have some photos of it consuming a fish, but I felt very
sorry for it.

Here's a photo for those interested:

My wife contacted PAWS and Sarvey, but neither were able to send anyone to
assist the bird. I considered capturing the bird and taking it in for help,
but didn't have the equipment necessary and would have had a hard time
transporting it and all my gear back to my car.

If you're interested in attempting to assist the bird, at roughly 1:30PM on
Sunday it was swimming in the river near the E-5 parking lot where there's a
foot-bridge that connects people to the nearby softball fields. I watched
the bird for about 20 minutes before I lost sight of it.

If you need more information, please feel free to contact me.
