Jim,

It was quite likely a Yellow Warbler. They start showing up about now and are fairly common through the end of July. Nice, colorful bird.

Hi:

At my son's backyard this afternoon I saw a 'new' (to me) bird from about 15 feet away, for about 20 seconds. It was a little smaller than a chickadee and almost completely yellow. The best match I can find in Sibley is the Yellow Warbler in adult phase. I was told that it was in the yard yesterday too. He has several feeders and water in his Tacoma north end yard. I don't know whether or not this bird is common in the area and was wondering if this a possible ID.

By the way, this yard has several tall evergreens and also has three Band-tailed Pigeons which have now returned for at least the third year in a row. They are quite shy, but show when no one is in the yard.

Your help will be appreciated.
