Hi, I am ALMOST ready to send my flock of Evening Grosbeaks on their merry way... After two weeks of non-stop eating, (filling 5 feeding platforms twice a day) and filling the bird baths and front waterfall twice a day; I wouldn't mind if they moved onto Buckley and started heading towards the mountains!!! (well maybe just 1/2 of them)
They have actually been a huge amount of fun for all of us, 'cept maybe for the person who got their shoe covered in bird dung. I have even had to spray off the deck, and some of the low areas, because it is getting messy.
They sit in our trees, (must be well over 50, that is all I could count, and there were still more in the trees talking it up!) and when the feeders run low, many leave, and just a couple stick around, and seem to nag.
I get the feeders filled back up and they seem to know within 1/2 hour, because they are back, noisy and boisterous as a bunch of fun loving teenagers. They aren't even afraid of me much; seems a few stay within a few feet when I am outside now.
I have always thought of backyard birding as economical, but these guys put away 25# of sunflower in the shell in less than four days!!!
I do need to get down and check on the Eagle nest, but have been with landscaping. Will try to get there early tomorrow, and report back.

Happy Birding, Vicki
