Hi Tweets...I just returned from a short but wonderful two-day stay on
Marrowstone Island. The house sits on the bluff about 100 ft above Admiralty
Inlet and is a constant play/feeding ground for Barn, Tree, Violet-green and
Cliff Swallows.

I sat for hours at a time (yes, I'm slightly sunburned) in an Adirondack
chair, binos and two bird guides at hand, watching the swallows zip around
me and the bald eagles soar, fish, or just perch in the tree next door. It
was heavenly!

The swallows were non-confrontational, intent on their own agenda...which to
me looked as though they were catching bugs or just having fun flying.

We also saw the same group (raft?) of Red-breasted Mergansers both Monday
and Tuesday, very successfully fishing below us...two adult males for sure
and the rest I assume was a mix of adult females and their young (?), for a
total of 19. Very entertaining.
