May 18, 2006. The following interesting birds have been reported in
Spokane County during the past 5 days:

There were 6 new county year birds being: ROSS' GOOSE, WHITE PELICAN,
SWAINSON'S HAWK, PECTORAL SANDPIPER, EASTERN KINGBIRD and OLIVE-SIDED
FLYCATCHER bringing the group year list to 205. Check out the progress at

The number 200 year bird was an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER seen by Cindy
McCormack in Iller Creek May 14.
A PECTORAL SANDPIPER was at Peone Prairie wetland May 16. Six were there
May 18. Eleven were south-west of Cheney on Lance Hill Rd May 17.
Shorebirds are not stopping for long these hot days.
A very rare ROSS'S GOOSE is/was at Philleo Lake May 18.
13 WHITE PELICANS arrived at Philleo Lake May 18.
A SWAINSON'S HAWK is in extreme southern Spokane Co seen from Mullinix Rd
May 18.
EASTERN KINGBIRDS returned May 16.

A rare SEMIPALMATED PLOVER was at Peone Prairie May 13 - 16.

The CLARK'S GREBE remains at West Medical Lake as of May 17.

The GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE at the Liberty Lake golf course was not reported
but likely continues. Try the corner of Molter & Valley Way.
