Okay, this is getting to be expensive. I bought a 50# bag of sunflowers last Thursday, it is almost empty.
I counted the 47 Grosbeaks in the backyard, (I added an extra tray ground feeder), and when I went to count the ones out front, the Band-tails spooked and all the front Grosbeaks took off like a shot!
I feel I am almost in a moral dilemma, like the person who leaves the hummingbird feeders out too long, and thinks they are keeping the hummers from migrating!
These fellows are terribly noisy, we hear them all the live long day, and now seeing a woodpecker, or chickadee is a treat! I think the regular birds still come, but are very sneaky coming and going. Even my Black headed Grosbeak pair are nervous, and I have one sunflower feeder set out of the way for them. They do not seem to want to join in with their cousins in the chow down! Don't get me wrong, I do love the fact they are here, but am beginning to wonder about their intentions!
