Hello Tweets,

We have just updated our website with many new photos taken recently from the Nisqually NWR and other locations and came across a beetle that we are not sure of it's identity. We ask anyone on Tweeters if they may help us ID this beetle, which was photographed at the Nisqually NWR on the 21st of May. The beetle was striking being red and black with fairly long antennae and is an insect we have both never seen before,so it was nice having a photo of it. The photo of this beetle is located after 3 photos of Pacific Forktail in our recent gallery for those of you that wish to look at it. It may be a common beetle, but it was new for us!

Other recent photos include images of a Great Blue Heron,Song Sparrow,Barn Swallow and a Cottontail Rabbit all taken from the Nisqually NWR. After looking at the Cottontail Rabbit photos we realized that a hole was on the left ear possibly indicating that the animal was tagged at some point,so maybe it was released at the refuge. We also obtained some nice photos of a male Western Tanager bathing in a pond with a waterfall in Joseph Higbee's Spanaway backyard.

Our photos can be accessed at the following link: http://www.pbase.com/godwit/recent_photos/

Sincerely,
