Hello Tweeters,
I saw something interesting, that I'm hoping one or more of you can explain to me.
I saw a pair of Mallards swimming on a small pond ( large Puddle) with a duckling. I assumed that this was a family Father, Mother and youngster. Then out of the underbrush on the other side of the pond swam a single female Mallard. When she got about 5 feet away from the family the duckling swam to her side. The two of them swam to the edge of the water and then waddled off together. Eventually they entered Swamp Creek and swam out of sight.
Was this duckling being "Babysat" by the pair of ducks or Did it just happen that there were 3 adult and one young duck swimming together in this pond and I'm making assumptions about what I saw?

Another question: I saw my first of the season Vaux's Swifts, 3 of them, Saturday May 20th at the Fill. Can anyone tell me when is a good time to go watch them at the Monroe smokestacks?

Lastly if any of you would like to see my picture of a Barred Owl baby being fed a Eastern Gray Squirrel, I'll be happy to share the picture with you. Unfortunately I don't know how to send a link like most people do.
