Hi Tweeters:
Afternoon, Tue, May 23. There was a Western Kingbird flycatching from the
barbed wire fences on both the north and south sides of 29th St NW in Auburn
this afternoon at 2:15. This is the road that turns toward Emerald Downs
from M St, and is where the Black Phoebe is sometimes found. I dipped on
the Phoebe.
Next I looked at the ponds on 216th St in Kent. One is a restored area, and
the other is a mudhole. There were several Spotted Sandpipers in both
ponds, and lots of Killdeer in the Mudhole. Charles Luster the black guy
photographer was at 216th also, and saw a few small shorebirds fly in and
land in the grass in the center of the mudhole. Unfortunately, the probable
Least Sandpipers? disappeared from view.
Charles had taken some lovely photos of a Lazuli Bunting yesterday or the
day before. He had been east of Kent Ponds along the Powerline trail. This
is east of 64th (just east of Kent Ponds - follow the power lines) and there
is nice habitat through there.
After leaving 216th, I visited Boeing Ponds and was there about 4:30pm
today. A Great Egret was in the center of the large pond.
Yours, Carol Schulz
