Hi All
Got home late last night from 3 days in Okanogan county trying to find birds
between rain squalls. it was interesting to read Carol Riddell's post on not
having the BOBOLINK yet on Aeneas valley Rd. When I got there late in the
day, about 5:30PM they had arrived. I could only count 1 female and 4 males.
They were in the third set of fields from hwy 20. Both sides of road.
Both KINGBIRDs were throughout county. Most expected sparrows were around
but I couldn't find a clay-colored, one of my reasons for being there. The
rain seemed to put a damper on them. Not a lot of bluebirds but I parked
next to a MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD summer home and wondered why she was so
cooperative for pictures until I realized what I had done.
The area near Loomis where there has been bobolinks before has changed a lot
due I was told to a change in ownership. The fields along the start of Toats
Coullee Rd are used for grazing. A fairly thorough search of the area didn't
turn up any bobolinks at this time.
Downtown Loomis had some young BIGHORN SHEEP on the mainstreet when I went
through early Tuesday morning.
Got tired, got wet, but got pictures! http://www.pbase.com/jvhigbee/current
