Dennis and Tweets,
Last week I had my first experience birding the East Coast during spring
migration. Had 150 species in 4-1/2 days of heavy-duty birding in
southeastern and southcentral Connecticut, including a "Big Day" (134) with
local birders. 23 warblers, 7 life birds (some really good ones for CT in
May). But alas, I was still two or three days early for the legendary
fallout. Weather has been awful so the theory is migration was on hold.
Gives me something yet to look forward to!!
Good birding!

Hello, tweets.

I've been away for two weeks and have missed many of the migrants
that must have gone through my yard, but this morning (5/26) I was
pleasantly surprised to see a yard full of warblers. There must have
been a half-dozen Wilson's and at least 3 Townsend's, nothing else
obvious. This seems rather late, but I suppose they are still moving
through on their way to Alaska. By way of contrast, on 5/13 near
Atlanta, GA, I saw 16 species of warblers, also late in their
migration, including a male Cerulean and 7 Blackburnians. Every
birder ought to experience at least a few days of spring migration in
the East!
